What Pat’s Gym is Thankful For

What is Pat Thankful forAt this time of year, I always take time to reflect upon those things I am thankful for.  It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of Thanksgiving and to forget to take a moment and reflect upon what is important.

Pat’s Gym has changed tremendously over the past year. Here are some things the coaches and I – are thankful for:

  1. New SkiErgs – These machines are amazing. They will never let you down.
    • They will always challenge you
    • They’ll give you a great workout
    • They are rewarding – you get out what you put in
  2. Environment and Community of People – I always say “you become who you hang with” and every time I walk into the gym, someone or something motivates me to be better. I wouldn’t be where I am, body-wise and business-wise, without the environment of Pat’s Gym and without people inspiring me to work harder.
  3. Physical and Mental Health – My health and that of my clients has improved greatly because we have created individualized detailed plans with stretch goals, no excuses and we live healthy lifestyles. These lifestyles are not viewed as burdens but as a positive way of living that allows us to be more effective and happy in our professional and personal lives.
  4. Openness to Learning – I have always been opened to pushing myself and to learning new things. I am thankful that I have clients who have inspired me but who have also embraced our philosophy of always growing, physically and mentally.
  5. Commitment from Others. Watching clients set goals and achieving them makes my role as the owner of Pat’s Gym rewarding and worthwhile.  I have always wanted to have a positive impact on people and my gym is doing that in the following ways:
    • We help clients remain healthy
    • We arming clients with knowledge about nutrition that will positively guide their food choices for life
    • We create an environment where clients can work together, cheer each other on and where they can meet like minded people that eventually become friends….it’s a community!
  6. Friendships and Family – This past year I have met new people who I now consider friends and I have become closer to people I have known for a long time. As always, my family and true friends are always there for me.  It is easy to overlook friends and family, but they are critical to who we are.  Take a moment to say thank you to these people for having a positive influence in our lives.
  7. Our Coaches – I am proud to have Becky, David and Peter at the gym helping clients achieve their goals. Each has a unique skill set based on extensive experience and education.  These backgrounds have allowed the gym to offer clients a variety of experiences and customized workouts to help clients reach their unique goals.

In life there will always be up-and-downs, and the grass could always be greener on the other side.  I am a positive person and look at the “downs” in life as an opportunity to learn. I have met some incredible people this past year, and have learned a lot of them and from existing clients and friends.  I am thankful that life this past year has brought me challenges because I have dealt with them effectively and have learned skills that will help me handle future challenges.

So simply put, my advice to you is:  cut out the things in your life that are not good for you, and don’t hang with people that hold you back and prevent you from growing.  My motto is that “there are never bad days just bad thoughts.”  Remember that the time you spend on earth is limited, so don’t rob yourself of the opportunity to grow.

Have a great Thanksgiving and spend time with those people you care about and who will propel you forward and do not hold you back.
