Pat Gilles recently celebrated his birthday with a workout in the gym that lasted approximately 5 ½ hours. Pat, with the help of his wife, Roza, and Antonio Cordova a close friend from NYC who is in great shape and a pro on the SkiErg. The Birthday Challenge was 100,000m Ski for time. The strategy Pat Gilles created for the team to follow was simple….protect each other, have each partner do their bit on the SkiErg, and make sure that the time was kept consistent throughout. With an ultra-marathon such as this, there is no room for error. The team wanted to get an average of 1:53/500m, but they ended up with an average of 1:41/500m. Great job. None of the 3 will be wanting to do a SkiErg ultra-marathon in a long time, but they were all pleased with their time. The event streamed live and received a lot of comments. In addition, athletes of Pat’s Gym were very supportive of the event with athletes coming into the gym during the 5 ½ hours, to cheer and support them with food.
