It’s about time for all those runs, marathons and triathlons to get started. You can definitely tell that spring is here. In Madison, the lake is thawing, runners/joggers are out getting ready for the summer and what it brings. At Pat’s Gym, we are training athletes to compete in various upcoming events. Because of strong demand by our athletes, we are starting a class on Saturday mornings at 9:15 a.m., that will be focused on preparing our athletes/runners to get in shape for upcoming races. The exercises will work on endurance, stability, correcting imbalances, and alignment. The class will be 1 hour of exercises, followed by a run, where our athletes will be supporting one another. The run is optional. It should be a fun time, but most importantly it will help you perform well in your upcoming race and it will keep you safe while preparing for and participating in that race.
Many athletes will participate in a race, but are not be well prepared. These athletes risk injury and disappointment. The injuries may not be critical, but why go there. It doesn’t make sense to injury yourself due to a lack of proper preparation. As important, you really want the experience of running to be a memorable experience. Preparing well will make the race enjoyable. If not enjoyable because it is a marathon or triathlon, at least it will give you confidence that you can finish it. Preparation can be hard work, but it is fun. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn.
The athletes who will be joining us are participating in various races. It will be a diverse group, but they will all be focused on running safely and for fun. Come join the class, this Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
