A Journey for Pat Gilles and Pat’s Gym

How to look rippedIf you have noticed, Pat’s Gym has been changing. I have been very intentional about the changes. The changes reflect what my athletes have been requesting, and what I have noticed some of them have needed over my years of coaching.

First, I updated the website. I have made it more interactive, and reflected the attitude of the Gym which is composed of seriously motivated individuals and competitive athletes.  The public part of the website contains information that will help the public understand what Pat’s Gym is all about.  In addition, the public part of the website will let browsers understand my philosophy about training.  The private part of the website is intended for those athletes who want to know more about my workouts, workouts in general and nutrition.  The members only website is more in-depth information about fitness, provides discounts to members for Programs, and lists workouts that members can follow.  It will help serious athletes up their game.

I have received great feedback on both the private part and public parts of the website.  You can obtain more information about the membership for Pat’s Gym website by sending an inquiry or email.  I encourage you all to try out the members only part of the website.  With this offering, I am focused on helping my athletes excel and be more efficient in getting into optimal shape.  For example, there are more than 150 videos illustrating the exercises you should be doing and how to do them with proper form.  In addition, there are blogs and workouts that provide advice not only on working out, but on mental toughness, nutrition and recovery.

Second, I also am training many motivated people and competitive athletes online because they don’t live in Madison, WI, or if they live in Madison they don’t have time to come into the Gym.  These athletes have found the online membership/remote training to be very effective in achieving their fitness or sports goals.  I am currently training individuals who are traveling too frequently to do in-Gym coaching sessions, or whose schedules are very unpredictable.  The online training program are written to help a specific athlete achieve his/her specific goal.  These programs are delivered to the athlete via the website on a weekly basis, and are tailored not only to help achieve a specific goal, but are based upon weekly feedback provided by the athlete on the prior week’s workouts.  They can be written for those traveling athletes who have access to a gym or can be written for those athletes that must do their workouts in their hotel room.  Some of the athletes that I am training online are preparing to compete in upcoming marathons/triathlons or other races. Also, some of these individuals are getting ready for national sports competitions, including some that are on a journey  to qualify for the Olympics.  Remote training is a great way to train regardless of the goal.  In addition, remote training comes with access to the members only content.  The members only content not only contains member-only blogs, but it also contains an extensive video library that will help you perfect your form on the various assigned exercises.

Third, some of the changes at the Gym also reflect a change of coaches.  I have been very conscious that the coaches we hire are experienced and understand the various style of our athletes require for training.  However, the one aspect all our coaches have is a passion for coaching athletes and an in-depth understanding of the physiological/kinesiological of the human body.  All of the coaching is also intensely overseen by me.  Also, all coaching is based upon my philosophy and high standards of working out, which is all encompassing from the physical workouts, nutrition, recovery and the mental aspect of fitness.

Fourth, I am focused on researching and writing for national publications.  In addition, I have recently been quoted for my expertise in coaching competitive athletes achieve their goals.  I will be blogging on these issues in the near future.

Fifth, I am changing things up at at the Gym.   We have added more SkiErgs, a new rack bench and I have more changes planned for the near future.

I have also expanded the specialized Programs that we offer.  I created these programs based upon the demand of our athletes. The following are Programs that I offer:

  • The Get Cut Program is for those athletes who wanted to get cut, learn about nutrition and its relationship to working out. The results will show within 35 days.  This program has been very popular based upon its results. Many of our athletes have posted impressive “before” and “after” pictures.  Check them out!
  • The Strength, Lean and Defined Program I is intended to be a follow up program to the Get Cut Program.  It builds on what the athlete learned in the Get Cut Program, and helps them become stronger, while maintaining lean muscle mass.  I created this program based upon the demand of our athletes requesting a follow up program to the Get Cut Program.
  • The Strength, Lean and Defined Program II is the follow-up program to the Strength, Lean and Defined Program I.  This program builds upon the strength and definition of the first program.
  • The Basic Foundation Program is intended to help novice athletes learn about proper form and execution of basic exercises. It also helps the experienced athlete re-learn proper form and foundation.  Experienced athletes can add more weight and reps to make this a challenging program.
  • The Correcting Imbalances Program is a great program to help athletes coming back from injuries, or those athletes who excel at some activities/exercises while creating imbalances that impact us all.  Check it out!
  • The Perfect Butt Program is a program that is designed for models and motivated women to get that perfect butt that they want, but have thought is impossible for their body type.  Anyone can have that perfect butt, so stop the complaining and start to work on achieving it.
  • The Eat with A Purpose Program will help those individuals who want to lose weight or gain mass.  It will help these athletes understand what nutrition is required to achieve their goals, is required, and how to set a course to achieve their eating goals. This program is intended to be used alone or with another program.  If you want to use it with another program, a substantial discount is applied.

Lastly, our classes continue to be a core foundation for the Gym. We offer the following classes:

  • Level I – III classes.  These classes are based upon a team environment where athletes will cheer on other athletes, and teams will compete against other teams.  It’s a great stimulating environment, where our athletes surpass their beliefs of what is “do-able.”
    • Our Level I class is popular to introduce athletes to the basics of working out.
    • Our Level II class is an intermediate class for those athletes who enjoy working out and want to amp the level up from Level I.
    • Our Level III class is for those athletes who enjoy working out and pushing the limit, in a safe environment.
  • Pat Gym-style Yoga – We have starting offering the Pat Gym-style Yoga class where stretching is the foundation, while focus is on movements/exercises that will help improve your yoga practice or your workout practice.  You can amp up the level of the class, just ask the instructor.
  • FYF (Fuck You Friday) – We offer a FYF class at 4:15 on Friday’s.  This class will push the limit and will be lead by one of our experienced coaches.  It is a great way to complement the Level III class, and get ready for the weekend.  This class will help you earn the Friday night or Saturday night “cheat meal.”
  • Speciality Classes – We have other speciality classes based upon the demand.  For example, currently we have a running based class that is offered on Saturday at 9:15.  We offer a cycling class, when the demand is there and racing season is coming up. Stay posted for future offerings.

So, as you can see, I have been at work diligently implementing requests of my athletes or programs based upon my observations over the years of what athletes need to focus on to get to the next level.  I have tried to increase the choices we offer to help accommodate all needs, desires, requests and schedules.  I hope to see you at the Gym in the near future, or hear from you via email or an inquiry from the website.   Also, please remember to email me your thoughts on how I can improve the services Pat’s Gym offers its members.  I’m excited about the direction of the Gym.
