On weekends, I try to workout with and without the kids. This Sunday I had enough time to be able to get 3 workouts in on one day. This is unusual because the kids require so much attention. However, this weekend I got in 2 workouts by myself, and the kids joined me for one.
On Sunday, I woke up really early. I was able to get in my first workout while the kids were sleeping. It was a brief short, but intense workout. The format I did rewarded going harder, faster, and pulling the pin. This type of workout would have been worse, had I gone slower. It was definitely a mental toughness worout.
In the afternoon I wanted some SkiErg work, so I pick a pace that was hard and made me think without destroying me. The SkiErg involved a 30/30 format, and I picked a pace around my best 2k. This format is great for Vo2 max. I did this workout while the kids were asleep
The last workout, was just a fun game we all did throughout the day. You can pick any exercise that you want to improve on. It’s a great way to get in some volume. The main point of this type of workout, is to make working out a priority and to show yourself and the kids, you can always find time to get in a workout. We picked a trigger: the trigger was every time Burpee (our dog) had to pee, we all would go outside and do 10 burpees. You need to teach kids at an early age that working out is possible, even with a packed schedule, and it’s fun.
And now for the workouts….
