Boxing and Running – something I don’t do often, unless it’s a hotel gym

It’s always hard to travel and stay in a hotel. Part of that difficulty is not having access to the equipment you want. That being said, I can pretty much come up with solid workouts for myself just utilizing my own bodyweight. However, the hotel where I stayed in NYC had the typical treadmill, but they also had a punching bag. So, I decided, what the heck – I could come up with a workout for this hotel.

I used the same effective format of an IWT but added in the boxing and running. Boxing is incredibly taxing, and 2mins is more than enough time to make a grown man cry….or at least me.

Running max speed on a treadmill is surprisingly easy. Now I have run before for the IM Wisconsin, but I don’t really enjoy it. My personal opinion is that there are far better functional ways to train, and get a better desired result than from running. However, I am never afraid to try a new movement (or a rusty one) because it gets me out of my comfort zone. I like to get in that zone because I never know when I’ll be in that situation physically or mentally.

This workout showed me that GPP really works. This workout was tough, but it wasn’t crazy. For me this workout showed me that if you’re in good condition, you can do anything even if you don’t practice. It also showed me to never be afraid of trying something new.

If you do this, let me know what you think. It was fun, and you can up the intensity with the cardio portion of the workout.
