Don’t Forget Power Workouts – They will add in immediately reaction/energy, and help round out your workouts

DSC06830Most athletes love strength workouts. Those are the type of workouts that are common and have a place with all the other energy systems. Most people do ignore power. You have to learn to love power, and you need to appreciate the rest so you can go maximal force on each movement. Power is when you need that spirit of energy, you need to push forward quickly; however, it is not sustained because it is so intense.

Today for me was a power day. When you do a power workout, you will usually see a reduction in breathing. The idea of a power workout is maxing speed and max output, which should mean very short intervals if you’re going to do any breathing at all.

This was a fun workout. If you do it, scale the weights accordingly. Remember, speed and power are more important than weight. I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think.
