The Level III class is one of the most intense classes we offer. What makes this class intense is the environment and people who attend. Every athlete is capable of certain standards and thrive for competition. This class is set up in teams where all team members need to perform. If you quit an exercise or don’t perform at your best, you will not only let yourself down but you will also let your team down. However, team members really support one another even when members choke.
Another dynamic that exists with teams is that psychologically it is always easier to suffer with other people. Especially with people who you care about and who motivate you. The people who come to this class invest in their health, are goal oriented, and are driven. This class may not be for everyone, but if you’re in good shape, you driven, and like a team atmosphere, you will be addicted and make this a weekly event.
This posting contains a video that is really typical of the energy you will see at this class. A sample workout for this class is:
10,000m ski (teams of 3)
Every time you get up off the skier do this:
20x split jumps each side
20x mountain climbers each side
The key to this workout is to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each person on your team. Based upon this assessment, the team will come up with a strategy that will make each person successful and help the team compete against other teams. In assessing strengths and weaknesses of team members, you will focus on what distance/time, how much rest you will need, what exercises will hurt you or you can sustain, what sizes team members are, what pace your team will need to pull to win, etc. The assessment is strategic and an exercise that brings the team together.
There is no reason to be afraid of this class unless you are not willing to give 100 percent effort. You will be surprised how an atmosphere can bring out your full potential and fear can push you. Come give it a try Tuesday or Thursday night at 6pm.
