Mixing up the workout – Diversity of exercises in a workout will amp up the workout!

DSC06862My workouts are always varied. I love working every energy system, but I love working in mental toughness in different ways. So not only am I taxing my muscles, I am also trying to calm my mind as it races to calm down those limiting thoughts.

This workout was very unique. It incorporates kettlebells which I can use for strength, power endurance, recovery, and strength endurance workouts. With this workout, I worked up to almost 95% of body weight in each hand. The structure of this workout is deceptive; people will usually think of 5 deadlifts and the weight of a single kettle bell, and therefore the work doesn’t seem quite as scary, allowing them to fight the physical without as much of the mental one. But, putting this workout together with other exercises was mentally taxing. I loved it.

I designed a wrist push up complex to strengthen my wrist and experiment with new movements that with help my athletes succeed in different ways.

Part of the cool down always involves analyzing the work done each day, a post-game analysis to see what worked and to try and re-set the idea of what is possible. Try this one and let me know what you think!
