Nuts! Going to a Party? Nuts

DSC08646Going out to a party? Ever hear, stay away from the nuts. Do you think “stay away from those nuts because they’re bad for you because of the fats?” If you have had these thoughts, then you should rethink your preconceptions.
A recent study confirmed the benefits of nuts. One of the primary benefits is that the more nuts of all kinds that people eat, the more they lowered their risk for cardiovascular disease and coronary heart disease.
But, you don’t want to overdo it. So don’t gorge on nuts, but you may want to eat a handful as a snack.
Compared to people who didn’t eat nuts, people who ate less than a one-ounce serving of nuts a week reduced their risk for heart attack and stroke by 9%, and their risk for coronary heart disease fell by 12%. Eating a one-ounce serving five times a week was associated with a 14 percent reduction in cardiovascular events and a 20 percent reduction in coronary heart disease.
Nuts are high in unsaturated fats, fiber, and minerals. Therefore, absent any allergies, they should be included in your diet. So, next time at a party or even at home, make sure you turn to nuts instead of those high carb crackers or nasty dips.
