Spice up your life and improve your health

IMG_5613I am a person who is constantly experimenting with food, exercises, recovery, and spices. I really have enjoyed seeing what spices do to the body. It’s amazing how many spices there are, and how each can impact the body. In past blogs, I wrote and spices that help inflammation and lower blood pressure. This article will be a more general in nature and may change your prejudices against certain spices, and may reinforce why you like certain spices.

Turmeric is a unique spice and add common in foods in various cultures. It’s a great spice to help fight inflammation. Try some in your smoothie to give it a kick.
Cinnamon is a great spice to help regulate blood sugar by decreasing the amount of glucose that enters the blood stream. Studies have also shown that it can combat stress and improve concentration.
Cayenne pepper is a powerful antioxidant. Some studies have shown that it also helps to prevent chronic illnesses such as cancer. Other studies have shown that it may help booth your metabolism.
Ginger can sooth an upset stomach and fight arthritis pain. Ginger is used to reduce nausea caused by morning sickness, surgery, and chemotherapy. It will also help relief inflammation. Some studies have also shown taking this if you exercise will help avoid strains and soreness.
Saffron, which are the stamen of crocuses found in Spain (originally) is a great mood lifter. It is usual put into teas and rice. Various studies have shown that it can help with mood swings, depression and PS.
Parsley, in some studies, have found that it can actually inhibit breast cancer-cell growth.
Sage can help preserve memory and sooth sore throats. Sage is great in foods and in teas.
Rosemary can help enhance mental focus and fight foodborne bacteria. Studies have shown that rosemary help memory and test taking…..you can eat it or spray it! Also, when cooked with meats – it fights bacterial and prevents meats from spoiling.
Lavender is a great herb that I constantly use to disinfect, and to calm me and my family! Enjoy it.
