Tips #31-50 to Help You Say Healthy During the Holidays

tips 31 - 50This is the third blog in a series of three that are my 50 Tips to Help You Stay Healthy During the Holidays. I hope you have found the first two blogs to be helpful and that you have followed some of the Tips already. Let me know what you think of this series.

31. If you are traveling pack a jump rope. You can do that anywhere.

32. When in doubt do a ladder before you shower. 10-1 push ups, squats, sit ups, burpees, etc.

33. Avoid eggnog. It may be a holiday tradition, but it is packed with useless calories.

34. If you are going to drink stick with red wine.

35. During the holidays and beyond, add essential oils like lavender to your rooms, and take Natural Calm to help you sleep deeply.

36. Start your day off with a healthy breakfast. Build momentum winning small battles as the day goes on.

37. Leave your foam roller on your bed to remind you to roll out before you sleep. Rolling out is a great form of recovery.

38. During holiday meals eat fiber and protein rich foods first. They will fill you up so that you will eat less. If you start out eating carbs or drinking calories, you will be hungrier than if you started out with fiber and protein rich foods.

39. Avoid special holiday coffee drinks. Most contain an outrageous amount of sugar.

40. If you consume sugar, you will have sugar cravings for three days after. Fight those urges during those 3 days.

41. Lead by example.

42. If you’re a male, train without your shirt and if you’re a woman train in a sports bra. It will make you think twice about eating that extra dessert.

43. Keep track of what you eat in a detailed log so you have to write it down.

44. Weigh yourself everyday at the same time. It will keep you motivated and can be an honest self-assessment.

45. Make time for your family and relax.

46. Treat holidays like normal days and don’t over indulge.

47. Shovel your driveway and your neighbors for a workout. Also, say “no thank you” when the neighbors try to give you cookies or a hot calorie-laden drink as a way of showing gratitude.

48. If you are going to spend money, spend it on organic foods and make sure you only put high quality foods into your body.

49. Hang with the people you respect and want to be like. Chances are you are more like them than you think.

50. Create healthy habits and routines now. If you do, you will not have to worry about struggling for moderation through the holidays. If you start the routines now, they can be ingrained by the holidays.
