What does personal training entail

People have lots of reasons why they use a trainer and coach. I want to tell you how Pat’s Gym goes about setting up personal training and what the programs entail.

The first step is determining if personal training is a good fit for the individual and our gym. There is an interview process where we meet to see if the person is accepted and will add to the environment of the gym. We hold high standards and everyone feeds off the energy and the commitment people bring. If the individual doesn’t show the same qualities, they would be better off training somewhere else. During the initial interview, we also go over goals to give an honest timeline for reaching them.

After the interview process, we set up an assessment. We put the individual through a workout where we find their strengths, weaknesses and imbalances. After a proper warm up and standard test, we do a workout to read the individual and see how they mentally push through adversity. This session is not a one-size-fits-all and is based on needs and goals.

What Does Personal
From there, we set up a weekly plan based on goals, time and commitment. We write out a chart so you know exactly what Monday through Sunday looks like and what to expect from your workouts. We want realistic and sustainable plans that will set you up for success.

We then go over your journal expectations. This is something that is to be filled out daily and reported back to the trainer. It’s made up of four blocks: daily workouts, nutrition, stress and recovery practices. The more detail you put in each category, the easier it is for the trainer to help. These days show patterns and you learn to be more independent. Everyone has good and bad days, but with the journal, we can make it easier to have more success.

Once we have your availability, we can write a detailed program for your workouts, recovery days and nutrition. This is never set in stone and changes based on the communication between the individual and trainer.

We expect a lot out of our members. If you do not have success, you only have yourself to blame. There are 24 hours in a day and we see you at most for two hours. That is a lot of time for you to make good or bad decisions. That is why we create habits that you can translate into a lifestyle. When you learn how to work hard in the gym, you can apply that to everything you do in life.

At Pat’s Gym we range from setting up remote monthly plans to training individuals up to five days a week. We will give you the tools to succeed and it is up to you to use them. In my opinion, everyone needs a coach of some capacity. Whether it is to write a detailed program, hold you accountable or force you to take a recovery day. Stop making excuses and find the right program for you. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into and make the commitment.
