Summer is here, and you don’t want to miss about the excitement that Pat Gilles and Pat Gym are creating for the summer.

DSC09923You don’t want to miss out on this summer’s Pat’s Gym Community Events!

Pat’s Gym Community Event – The group workout and picnic was a success on May 20th. Although, the rain didn’t cooperate, we had a great workout at the gym and a picnic with a lot of healthy food choices and great conversations. It is a way that I want to give back to our community of driven athletes. I think it’s great we can support one another in the gym, and outside. We have two more events planned so keep those dates open. The second group workout and picnic will take place on July 27, and the third one will take place on September 23rd. You won’t want to miss out on this bonding experience.

I hope you can join us for these events. Please bring your significant other/spouse, family, and kids. It will be a fun event!

DSC09583Fellow Athletes,
As summer draws near, I have been reflecting upon Pat’s Gym.

Like many of you, I am drawn to well thought out and quality products and services. When I was creating Pat’s Gym, I was guided by purpose and attention to detail. While other gyms have created spaces where you can only workout; I wanted to create an environment where athletes would support one another, a space that would motivate athletes and not distract them, and where relationships amongst the athletes would be inspiring and empowering.

At Pat’s Gym, you will never experience inconsistency, and our members support one another inside and outside of the gym. Our coaches are always up-to-date on the latest science supporting their coaching techniques, and we share that knowledge with our athletes. We are constantly seeking out the latest science, the latest exercises, and incorporating that knowledge into our coaching based upon our extensive experience.

Everything we do at Pat’s Gym is based upon my four pillars of fitness. The first pillar is providing our athletes with knowledge-based workouts. The second pillar is focused on nutrition that will help our athletes achieve their goals. The third pillar is doing enough recovery to sustain the workouts that are being done. Lastly, stress management/mental toughness are tools that you will use in this journey of fitness at Pat’s Gym.

Pat’s Gym caters to “elite athletes.” I use these two words intentionally. To me an elite athlete is someone who is committed to improving his or her fitness level, and who is driven and persistent. This definition is not limited by accomplishments, and we want to serve all who have these characteristics.

Because your experience and our efforts are so inextricably linked, it is vital that I share our mission and values with you. My hope is that you feel connected to the mindset, priorities, and standards that drive us. In addition, I ask that you hold me and my team accountable every day that we serve you.

Our Mission

Pat’s Gym uses a knowledge- and experienced-based philosophy to help empower our athletes to achieve their goals and be the best version of themselves everywhere and at all times.

Our Values

  1. We put our members first
    1. All our services are focused on helping our athletes
    2. We obsess over the quality of services we provide
  2. We have the best and most creative coaches, so get ready for an adventure
  3. We have a diverse and inclusive community, that supports and trusts one another
  4. We will go far together; We won’t leave anyone behind

In the future, I’ll be sharing stories from our coaches and from our members that show how we are living the Pat’s Gym values. I will ask our coaches and our athletes to use #becausepatgilles in telling their stories to provide inspiration to other athletes

I encourage you to check out my blog on the Pat’s Gym website, and to follow @pats_gym and @pgilles on social media to learn more and be fully connect to this inspiring community.

Lastly, I want to sincerely thank you for everything you do to make Pat’s Gymspecial. You give something important to this community every day, simply by coming to Pat’s Gym and sharing your time and energy. Pat’s Gym is made up of our athletes who bring fantastic energy driven by strong, supportive, and committed athletes. I am proud to have you be part of Pat’s Gym, and even more proud to be a member of this inspiring community.

DSC03451Pat’s Gym June Monthly Challenge

The June Monthly Challenge will go by quickly, but it will be intense. It is comprised of 10-1 Cousins (M – 35#/F – 20# MBs) and 1-10 Power Clean (M-115#/F- 65#) for time. For clarity, the Challenge will look like 10 Cousins immediately followed by 1 Power Clean, then 9 Cousins immediately followed by 2 Power Cleans…..all the way down to 1 Cousin followed by 10 Power Cleans. Since it involves total body, compound movements, be careful and enjoy. This one will expose many weaknesses/imbalances.

May’s Monthly Challenge was 100 burpee pull-ups for time. The burpee pull-up tests many parts of your body and exposes many weaknesses. The burpee pull-up is a total body exercise that is a plyometric, cardiovascular, and calisthenics exercise.  However, it targets the quads, the chest, traps, shoulders, biceps, forearms, abs, calves, triceps, middle back, lower back, glutes, hamstrings, hip flexors, and outer things. Many of our athletes tried it at the beginning of the month, worked on the movement during the month, and then re-took the challenge towards the later part of the month.

The winners for the May Monthly Challenge were Gretchen with a time of 10:08 minutes and Mike Frank with a time of 12:23 minutes. Great job!

Good luck on June’s Monthly Challenge, and please give me feedback!

DSC02848Meet Amy Miller

our talented and driven profiled athlete for June

About three months ago, I was introduced to Pat’s Gym by Katie Frank.  We were working on a project together and she suggested I join her for a workout.  I knew of Pat’s Gym, mostly through social media, and honestly thought it was a “little too hard core” for someone like me.  Give me all the yoga classes, barre classes and cycling classes any day, I considered gyms straight up intimidating!  Nearly three months later, I admit that I was pretty much dead wrong.

Prior to joining Pat’s for Online Training, I was taking a variety of different fitness classes throughout the week, nearly a class everyday.  I like them, however the scheduling was a challenge and I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted.  After getting my butt kicked in the workout with Katie (in a good way), I decided to give Online Training a go for three months.  I had no real expectations, but just wanted to see what it was all about.

Needless to say, I am impressed by Pat’s Gym on soooo many different levels!  From the start, Pat listened to my goals, which were pretty shallow since they mainly included just to look better.  Since having my son (eleven years ago), I’ve never felt confident about my stomach because of the stretch marks I was blessed with.  Three months in, I’m noticeably more toned and leaner.  I actually have a few abs poking out and am no longer self conscious about my stomach.  🙂

I am definitely a person who is motivated by results.  Whether it’s smaller clothing sizes, smaller measurements, or a number on the scale, I like my results quantifiable because that’s how I measure progress.  Quantifiable results are definitely something I’ve achieved with Pat.  I’ve gone down one size in pretty much all of my clothes, lost just a few pounds, and definitely lost some inches.  My overall fitness level has also improved and this shows up in nearly everything else I do.  From golf to a hectic day running errands, I feel stronger and more productive.

Apart from the results, I love the flexibility that online training offers.  If I’m traveling or short on time one day, Pat adjusts my workouts accordingly.  In three months, I have never done the same workout twice, so getting bored or going on “auto pilot” has not happened.  The flexibility part has eliminated any excuse to not workout, so now it’s just a part of my daily life.

Apart from being convenient, the gym has a positive and encouraging atmosphere.  It is also nice and clean!  When I am there, I never really feel like I am working out alone.  There are almost always other athletes or coaches around to chat with or ask questions if I need to.  Plus the “how to” videos that accompany the workouts are super helpful.  I’ve met some great people and even made some friends!

The online training with Pat has definitely made a positive impact in my life.  Overall, I feel so much healthier.  My body looks better, and with that comes confidence and, to put it in a corny way, more self love.  My relationship with food has also improved as I learn more and more about how to eat, what to eat and when to eat.  It’s not just “another workout” but a complete lifestyle change both mentally and physically.

Overall, Pat’s Gym is an amazing product and experience!  Pat is always on top of things, and that sets a great example for everyone who “follows’ him.  As a business owner, I am always motivated by other entrepreneurs and he is no exception.  His passion and commitment show up in spades, and for me, that’s actually more inspiring than a lot of the athletic accomplishments I see.  Working out at Pat’s Gym reminds me that the only limitations we have are truly the ones we put on ourselves.  And even though I swore  I wouldn’t give up cake and wine, I’ve mostly given up cake and wine (but by my own choice!).  As an entrepreneur and mom, finding some sense of balance within my lifestyle has always been challenging.  I feel like I am finally finding that balance, and attribute so much of that accomplishment to the lifestyle changes I’ve incorporated since joining Pat’s Gym

 A Father’s Day Special

Workout with Your Father and It’s on the House!

I am really close with my Dad. You will see him around the gym attending classes, along with my Mom and sister. Working out is my passion, and my Dad has always supported me in that regard. I’ve seen my Dad’s health improve as he has lost weight. My Dad even successfully completed the Get Cut Program which inspired me!

By bringing your Father to the Gym to workout with in a class, it’s a great way to share with him– helping them improve their health, but also sharing in a way that is really personal and special. I’m excited to offer free classes to those athletes who bring their Dads to a class and share the class with them. Your Dad and you will be able to attend for free.

Start you day off right with a family workout!
