December is a special time of year at Pat’s Gym. It’s a time of when, we have Christmas music blaring (but please no “Santa Babies”), where people push themselves to be better than they are today. Goals are being set for 2019, regardless if they are preparing for the Ironman – Wisconsin, lower cholesterol or triglyceride levels, tightening up, losing weight or bulking up. It’s all very exciting, and in past year’s our athletes have realized they have more power to change their lives in positive ways. Come give Pat’s Gym a try! We have a proven track record of helping individuals succeed and live heathier and happier lives.

Holiday Class Schedule – Don’t fret about staying in shape over the holidays!! We will have a normal class schedule on December 24, a special Christmas class on December 25 at 9:00 a.m., then a normal class schedule that continues through the rest of the year, including December 31. We will also offer a special New Year’s Day class on January 1 at 9:00 a.m. So, don’t worry about having your workout routine interrupted – we won’t let you regress at Pat’s Gym. Keep up your routine! Your body will thank you for it later.




A Holiday Special – Pat’s Gym is offering a holiday special for our athletes. It is a great way to take advantage the services that Pat’s Gym has to offer, to get specialized attention, and to set yourself up for success for 2019. Pat’s Gym will offer you 6 private coaching sessions, a month of all you can attend classes, and access to our coaches during coach’s hours from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In addition, our coaches will be available to help you with questions that you may have about working out, nutrition, stress management, recovery, and mental toughness. Package prices can be obtained by emailing The services contained in the packages need to be used by January 30, 2018, and payment must be received prior to starting the services. It’s a great gift to give to yourself for the holidays, and to jump start your routine as 2019 begins.





Hat’s, Hat’s Hats! – They have finally arrived! Pat’s Gym winter caps to keep you warm during this blustery winter weather! Our Pat’s Gym caps went quickly at $30 per cap. Now we expect these winter hats to go quickly. It’s a great gift for Christmas for that someone special in your life. We have two colors: black/grey, and white/grey. An Exciting Start to 2019 – It’s never too early to start planning for success! Pat Gilles and his coaches are already planning how to start out 2019, so that you are set up for success to achieve those 2019 fitness goals. Pat’s Gym will be offering a Get Cut class/program which is one of our most popular offerings. It’s a very effective way to motivate yourself, see incredible results, in only 35 days. In addition, we will be offering specials on classes, private sessions, and Online Coaching for commitments of 1 year. You need to be committed to fitness, in order to have success. Everything that we will be offering in January 2019, will help support you with your goals, will motivate you to achieve those goals, and the results will further motivate you. It’s hard to fail with the team of coaches we have that will help guide you to success, and who will hold you accountable for working out. Start planning now for January 1, 2019.



A SkiErg World Cup Competition – The SkiErg expert Australian Jane Erbacher has created a world competition for the Concept2 SkiErg. Although this competition is worldwide, only 15 Gyms will be sponsoring the competition, although athletes don’t have to belong to these gyms to participate. You must sign up by January 14, 2019. It costs $110 to participate, 5% of all proceeds to go the Boys and Girls Club in Madison, WI. The event will take place on February 9 – 10, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Athletes who are going to participate in this SkiErg World Cup Competition, will have 10 weeks of workouts on the SkiErg to get you into shape. Then, the following is the schedule of events:

Saturday, February 9, 2019 Events:
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Partner 5K
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Individual 500m
12:00 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Quad Workout 1 “Erg Lung”
3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Partner “Hulk Smash”

Sunday, February 10, 2019 Events:

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Quad Workout 2 – “Quad City”
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – 1000m Individual
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Partner Workout “Rude Interruption”
2:00 – Finish – Quad Workout 3 “Half Marathon Relay”

You can sign up for every event and it will be a great opportunity to do it with a partner of the same sex and/or a group of two females and two males. It’s always fun to train for a specific goal especially this time of year so sign up today!

A Healthy Pat Gilles Get Away – Pat Gilles is planning a healthy get away next February 2019, where a group of Pat’s Gym athletes, will get away to a tropic destination. The goal of this tropical Get Away Destination Vacation is to have a blast with other fun Pat’s Gym athletes, stay in shape, and learn a bit more about fitness and to discuss strategies to excel in the Pat Gilles and Pat’s Gym type workouts. The dates are February 14-18th. You definitely will have a lot of free time to catch up on books or movies or you can explore around the tropical destination. There is great shopping in San Juan, and great hiking in the tropical Hugo forest. If you’re interested, contact Pat Gilles at for more information, and to indicate your interest in going. There will be a limited number of spots, so you need to act quickly.





Athlete of the Month – This month we are profiling the athletes at Pat’s Gym who have performed very well in the Concept2 World SkiErg 1000m Competition. Now we all love to competitively perform in the annual Concept 2 World Sprint Competition, but these individuals have distinguished themselves internationally. We have various individuals who have taken #1 in the world for their age group, and various other talented athletes who have taken 2nd or 3rd place in the world. Please congratulate them when you see them next time at Pat’s Gym, and definitely be inspired!

MailChimp Intro – The December Monthly Challenge – The December Monthly Challenge helps put our athletes in a great holiday spirit. This challenge is a bit longer than most challenges, but it will put you in the holiday mood! You don’t want to miss this one. Read more about it….

The December Monthly Challenge – Each year at Pat’s Gym, the Monthly Challenge rings in the holiday. Also, it will put you in mood for the festivities! The December Monthly Challenge is the 12 Days of Christmas. It consists of the following:

1 DL 95/165
2 Ground to overhead with plate 25/45#
3 Manmakers 2×30/2×20 Dbs
4 KTE or TTH
5 Burpee pull ups
6 Weighted Walking lunges 30/20# (each side)
7 KBS 55/35#
8 Calories bikeerg

11 Weighted deck squats 30/20#
12 Plate push laps in the green room 25# female 45# male

The workout should be done just as ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ song is sung.
Every 3mins stop and do 7/10 calories on the skierg (females do 7 calories and men do 10 calories). There is a 60min cap on time. Have fun with this one!

You get scored on how fast you go through the exercises. Count each one carefully and enjoy the song!

The November Monthly Challenge – Each year, Pat’s Gym participates in the Concept2 World Competition SkiErg for the 1000m race for the best time. This year, as in similar years we’ve had our athletes place extremely well. We even had the top individual overall in his age group as well as set a World Record. This year, Erick won in his age group with a time of 3:08. Great job Erick! We also had 1-woman place in the top 3 in her age group. Great job Crystal. We are so happy with the showing of the Pat’s Gym athletes.

The winners of the Pat’s Gym November Monthly Challenge are Erick with a time of 3:08, and Katie Hurtis with a time of 3:30. Good job!
