A Healthy Pat Gilles Get Away – Pat Gilles is planning a healthy getaway next February 2019, where a group of Pat’s Gym athletes, including Pat Gilles’ Online Coaching athletes, will get away to a tropic destination. The goal of the Get Away is to have a blast with other fun Pat’s Gym athletes, stay in shape, and learn a bit more about fitness and to discuss strategies to excel in the Pat Gilles and Pat’s Gym type workouts. This trip will be one vacation where you come back in better shape than when you left the Madison airport. Learn more about the energy systems that workouts tap into, how to create strategies for the workouts/monthly challenges, and learn more about nutrition. There will be group workouts (we will utilize a beach), great food, great company and in a location that will be a great break from the Wisconsin winter weather which will be old by February. So far about 15 athletes have indicated their interest in such an event. You definitely will have a lot of free time to catch up on books or movies you haven’t had time to read/see, or you can explore the tropical destination. So, contact Pat Gilles at pat@patsgym.com for more information, and to indicate your interest in going. There will be a limited number of spots so reserve yours today.
Athlete of the Month – This month is all about April, and this month we want to profile Aprilaire, a Research Products Corporation, who knows how to take care of its employees. Starting about five years ago, Aprilaire approached Pat’s Gym to see if there was a possibility of a partnership. Aprilaire wanted to implement a wellness program that reduced costs of its medical insurance programs, but also would keep its employees healthy, more productive and would help attract/retain employees. The partnership with Pat’s Gym has delivered on all these goals. Aprilaire invests in its employees and is reaping the benefits. Aprilaire employees value the benefits of working out at Pat’s Gym and can’t imagine leaving the Company because they could not imagine another company caring about its employees as much as Aprilaire. In addition, Aprilaire employees have experienced many benefits of working out at Pat’s Gym including weight loss, lower triglycerides, better heart rates, and stress reduction. Aprilaire is a company that engineers, designs and manufactures an entire family of whole-home indoor air quality products, including air purifiers, dehumidifiers, ventilation systems, thermostats, and controllers, and zoned temperature control systems. Listen to what Aprilaire has to say about the Pat’s Gym partnership, and also listen to what Aprilaire employees have to say about why they value this relationship….. watch the video
100,000 Meter Birthday Challenge – Pat Gilles recently celebrated his birthday with a workout in the gym that lasted approximately 5 ½ hours. Pat, with the help of his wife, Roza, and Antonio Cordova a close friend from NYC who is in great shape and a pro on the SkiErg. The Birthday Challenge was 100,000m Ski for time. The strategy Pat Gilles created for the team to follow was simple….protect each other, have each partner do their bit on the SkiErg, and make sure that the time was kept consistent throughout. With an ultra-marathon such as this, there is no room for error. The team wanted to get an average of 1:53/500m, but they ended up with an average of 1:41/500m. Great job. None of the 3 will be wanting to do a SkiErg ultra-marathon in a long time, but they were all pleased with their time. The event streamed live and received a lot of comments. In addition, athletes of Pat’s Gym were very supportive of the event with athletes coming into the gym during the 5 ½ hours, to cheer and support them with food. Click here to read more about the strategy of this time, and how they prepared going into it and how they recovered from it.
