BeFunky Collage_63Pat’s Gym Community Events:

Summer is here, and you don’t want to miss about the excitement that Pat Gilles and Pat Gym are creating for the summer.

You don’t want to miss out on this summer’s Pat’s Gym Community Events!

Pat’s Gym Community Event – The group workout and picnic was a success on May 20th. Although, the rain didn’t cooperate, we had a great workout at the gym and a picnic with a lot of healthy food choices and great conversations. It is a way that I want to give back to our community of driven athletes. I think it’s great we can support one another in the gym, and outside. We have two more events planned so keep those dates open. The second group workout and picnic will take place on July 29, and the third one will take place on September 23rd. You won’t want to miss out on this bonding experience. These community events will take place at Central Park, just south of Pat’s Gym. So, you may want to park at Pat’s Gym, and walk south to where we will be meeting. The event will start at 11:00 with a group workout, followed by a lunch/barbecue at 12:00.  Pat’s Gym will supply the water, hotdogs and hamburgers along with all condiments. Please bring a dish to share.

I hope you can join us for these events. Please bring your significant other/spouse, family, and kids. It will be a fun event!

Pat Gilles is further enhancing the benefits of Online Coaching – you don’t want to miss out on these items:

Take advantage of all the benefits of Online Coaching – including these two benefits!

Online Coaching is further personalizing the service it offers to Online Coaching athletes. Not only do our athletes have access to in-depth and knowledgeable articles about health, nutrition and fitness, but they also have access to an extensive video library that shows how to do all exercises assigned to Online Coaching athletes. In addition, Pat Gilles is offering the following:

  • Gym hours where Coach Casey will be available to help Online Coaching athletes with their workouts, with a focus on proper execution of all workouts. Hours that Casey will be available in the gym will be 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.  Casey will also be available for private sessions for Online Coaching athletes. Just email Pat Gilles at pat@patsgym.com and he can help you schedule the private session.
  • The Online Coaching Group Workout will take place on July 22, at 9:00 a.m. at Pat’s Gym. Again, these workouts will not only provide a great workout, but will also contain a learning component about form, strategy, or an energy system that will help you improve your workouts. Plan on attending this fun event!

DSC03451Pat’s Gym July Monthly Challenge:

Show off your mental toughness with the July Monthly Challenge:

The July Monthly Challenge is based upon Pat Gilles belief that the Concept2 SkiErg is one of the best pieces of equipment for training while getting a full body workout in, while also testing your mental toughness. The July Monthly Challenge is:

  • 30sec ski > or equal to Females 115m Males 150m
  • 90sec “rest” complete 1 pull up
  • Each round add 1 rep of pull ups during the rest period
  • If you fail to hit the meters on the SkiErg or Pull-Up reps you are done.
  • You will count your last full round

Remember, to record your result on the whiteboard at Pat’s Gym. This challenge will definitely test your power endurance, while also testing your mental toughness.

For the June Monthly Challenge, the workout was 10-1 Cousins (M – 35#/F – 20# MBs) and 1-10 Power Clean (M-115#/F- 65#) for time. The winners for the June Monthly Challenge were Gretchen with a time of 6:25 minutes and Chuck with a time of 10:15 minutes. Great job!

Good luck on July’s Monthly Challenge, and please give me feedback!

Meet Ida – an athlete who is extremely busy, but still finds time to make fitness a priority!

Pat’s Gym has really met and exceeded my expectations. I emailed Pat Gilles, owner of Pat’s Gym, because I was in a winter rut, and knew I was not getting enough exercise. I practiced yoga consistently, but I was lacking strength in order to keep progressing.

After contacting Pat, I started the Get Cut Program in February of 2016. I was energized from the results, I then went on to try the Strength, Lean and Defined Program. I found the results to be impressive from that program, so then I started working with Pat Gilles through Online Coaching.

When I started working with Pat, we focused on improving my upper body strength. In addition, we introduced cardio because I wasn’t very efficient with my aerobic capacity. Lastly, we realized I lacked coordination in big muscle movements; I found kettlebell swings to be hard, in addition, to any movement that required power.

Pat has empowered me to progress by not only designing great workouts, but also he has explained the why behind what we do. For example, Pat pointed out that I needed to work on Power and Power Endurance energy systems. I didn’t realize what that was but once he explained it, and I understood, I was motivated to get better at working on these systems.

With Pat, I realize that my fitness goals are a work in progress. We are always talking about where I am, and what should be my next goal. Lately, Pat prepared me to run a half-marathon. I went in with confidence, and (as Pat put it) “a desire to have fun with the experience.” I was definitely prepared, and did very well in the race. Now, I am talking to Pat about running a second half-marathon.

I love the fact that the workouts change along with me, or I change along with the workouts! I’m motivated to keep going because there’s always something new to be working on. I love that it’s always different, so it stays fresh and I have not gotten hurt from repetitive motions/exercises. I grew up studying classical violin, then studied yoga for many years. Violin taught me how to practice and stick with something, yoga reinforced it, so luckily sticking with my workouts isn’t too tough.

I have prioritized working out. My life is very busy, with traveling and all, but I have to choose making time for the gym over other things that aren’t as important. The nice thing about Online Coaching is I can ask for shorter workouts on busier days. That way I still get it in and feel like I didn’t let the day get away from me, but also have time for other commitments.

I love Online Coaching. Part of the challenge of working out is I must find my own motivation. Online Coaching helps me with my motivation. I actually like to be on my own when working out. I like to focus on what I’m doing and fit it into my day whenever it works out best. It’s just been a great complement to the way I learn, and what I love experiencing.

What I like about Pat’s Gym is that things aren’t sugarcoated. If you have a goal, the gym will absolutely help you achieve it, but you will be asked to change your habits to make it happen. In the health and fitness culture, there are so many gimmicks such as “Amazing abs in 8 minutes” and so many promises that you can keep the same nutrition habits, not really exercise and completely change your body. It’s just not true, and I like that at Pat’s Gym, the promises are real as long as you put in the effort.

Pat Gilles and Pat’s Gym have changed my life. They have certainly made me stronger in many ways! Pat talks a lot about Mental Toughness and that translates into everyday life. Physically, I am way more fit than I was and excited to continue with it! I love this journey!
