Pat’s Monthly Thoughts:

Two things jump to my mind this month.
First, summer is coming to Madison and that means that the seasons are over for NFL and NHL players. They will then return to Pat’s Gym to get in shape and stay in shape. It’s always great to work with elite athletes who have the dedication and drive for perfection. I look forward to it, and stay tuned for some good stories. I also have some other teams coming in to train this summer and I’ll keep you posted.
Second, I am working on a SkiErg Program that I’m really excited about. I am putting myself through it, plus a few driven athletes who are willing to experience failure, as I test the program to determine what works best. I want this Program to help our athletes be more efficient on the SkiErg, and to improve their numbers. This machine is such a great tool for a full body workout, I can’t live without it.

The New Website is a Hit!

The Website has been extremely well received. It has energized me to write more and post more. I hope you’re enjoying it, and please continue to visit the website as we are adding enhancements all the time. Athletes training through Online Training have seen how effective such training can be. Also, the Members Only access part of the website has been extremely popular. Athletes have found the restricted content of the Members Only to be extremely informative, and has helped them up their game to the next level.

The website hosts the Online Training platform. Online Training was designed to help those athletes who wanted to train with Pat Gilles, but didn’t live in Madison. However, the Online Training portal is so user friendly, effective at collaboration between Pat Gilles and his athletes, and flexible, that even those members who use to train in private sessions are turning to Online Training. Also, with Online Training you get access to the Members Only material on the website. You will also get access to Gym to workout, and you can attend all Pat’s Gym classes for free. Why not try it for a month or two and see what you think? Membership is growing, and the review have all been very positive.

If you want access to the extensive material on the website that is restricted to Members Only, you can purchase a membership. The exclusive content includes an extensive video library of exercises and how to perform them correctly. It also has workouts that are part of Pat Gilles’ routines, or contained in various Programs that he offers for sale. Nutritional advice is also offered. Try it and see how you can improve your workouts and results.

Online Training:

As part of the new website, I’ve created an interface which hosts the Online Training platform that is very user friendly. Online Training which was intended for athletes who wanted to train with me but didn’t live in Madison. Online Training for remote members is really growing. But I have found that even people who live in Madison are using it because they can train when they want, where they want — including at our Gym — and get a lot more value from Pat’s Gym. Online Training athletes get access to the Members Only content on the website. In addition, athletes in Madison and the surrounding areas get to attend all the classes they want to attend. It’s a great deal! In fact, some of our athletes have moved from private coaching sessions to Online Training. You should check it out!

Classes:
New Classes – we are consistently changing our classes to meet the needs of our athletes. To help prepare cyclists for races we had a cycling class in March. We are now offering a SkiErg specific class starting April on Tuesdays from 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. The best part is that it only takes 30 minutes to get a full body workout. This class will help you improve your SkiErg technique, while getting a great short intense workout in before work. The class is limited to 10 athletes, so reserve you spot by emailing me.
New rates – Now is the perfect time to take advantage of the all you can train classes for $200 a month. This is a great way to hold yourself accountable. This price package has been very popular.  For those limited on time, you can purchase a series of 8 classes for $120, which means you can workout at least 2 times per week, or use the credits however you want. The only limitation is that at the end of the month, the credits expire and you have to re-up on a new package. This provides an incentive for athletes to workout in any given month. For Online Training athletes classes are free.

Programs:
The Get Cut Program continues to be extremely popular because it is so effective.  The “before” and “after” pictures of the athletes who have completed the Program are impressive.  Because these athletes were consistently demanding “what’s next?” after the Get Cut Program, I have created the Strength, Lean and Defined Program I.  This Program focuses on what was gained physically and learned mentally in the Get Cut Program. This new program builds upon those gains.  With this new Program, you will not gain weight, and you will remain lean and defined. This new Program will teach you how to eat for a purpose for a specific workout/day.  In anticipation of these athletes who are driven by the gain of the Get Cut Program and the Strength, Lean and Defined Program I, I have developed the Strength, Lean and Defined Program II.  It will further build upon the skills and mental toughness of the athletes who have completed both Get Cut Program and the Strength, Lean and Defined Program I. We also are excited to offer a new nutrition program that tells you what to eat daily for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. This Program is called “Eat for a Purpose Program.”

Chad will also be offering programs that you can do in 30 minutes or less, and are focused on various techniques or exercises.  The first one he will be offering is the Pull-Up Program.  New Programs will come out quarterly. This program is designed to help everyone improve on pull-ups, and help those who can’t do a pull-up day to achieve success. Stay tuned for more programs!

Athlete of the Month:

Every month, I will profile a new athlete. The one I want to profile this month is Cody. He is a senior who has committed to Vanderbilt Division 1 football team. He wants to gain strength, muscle, and remain healthy.  I have worked with him on a mass gain program specific to his goals. It is similar to the Mass Gain Program on the website, but specialized for Cody. After 4 weeks, he has gained over 20 pounds of muscle. However, he wants to gain another 10. He works out at least 4 days with me, and 2 days on his own. Not to mention throwing in a two a day when appropriate. His drive, dedication, strength, and talent is amazing. If all athletes had these attributes, the sports we watch today would be at a higher level. Way to go Cody!

Monthly Challenges:

April’s Monthly Challenge was short, but sweet. It consisted of a perfect push-up ladder from 10-1, and standing up between each rung. The challenge was rolled out at the Pat’s Gym Open House, sponsored by Lululemon. The winners of the challenge got a Pat’s Gym/Lululemon hat and the hoodie. The winners the night of the Pat’s Gym Open House, sponsored by Lululemon are:
Brittany
Katie
Nick
Connor
The winners of the Monthly Challenge at the Gym for April are:
Chef Dan Fox
Roza

May’s challenge takes place in the green room. It is 10 lunges with a bar on your shoulders @ BW followed by a sled sprint down and back with your bodyweight on the sled. You are going to do this 3 rounds for time as fast as you can. Last months challenge focused on your upper body and this month’s challenge will be a real leg burner. Have fun and good luck as always.
