November 2019 Newsletter

Make this the month that you remember, and make sure you set yourself up for success. Does it mean hitting the gym 5+ times a week, working with a coach 3+ times per week, or working directly with Pat Gilles through Online Coaching. It all works, but depends upon whether you like working with others, with a coach or with Pat Gilles in a very personalized way.

New equipment – the ATP is here! After the long wait – 12 weeks for it to be made for us by Westside Barbell, it’s arrived. Come in and try it!

We ordered the ATP machine to help us keep our athletes healthy and injury-free. It’s a great piece of equipment, it’s unique and very effective. It will help stimulate the glutes, the hip flexors, remove lower back pain, and much more. You’ve got to see it, and experience it. There is nothing that compares to it. Schedule an appointment with Pat or Roza Gilles and see what it’s like. It was worth the wait, and we thank Westside Barbell for creating such a great piece of equipment. It was definitely worth the 12 week wait!

Treat Yourself or Someone Special to Something Special – It’s that time of the year – a little cold and a bit of snow, means you need something special to keep you warm. And we have you covered! We recently got in special Pat’s Gym baseball hats and cropped hoodies. We didn’t get a lot of them, so come in today and get yours before they are gone. They make for great gifts for that someone special in your life, or give to yourself. It would make a great gift for the holidays. Come get them before they are gone.

A Holiday Special – Pat’s Gym is offering a holiday special for our athletes. It is a great way to take advantage the services that Pat’s Gym has to offer, to get specialized attention, and to set yourself up for success for 2019. Pat’s Gym will offer you 10 private coaching sessions, a month of all you can attend classes, and access to our coaches who can help answer any questions you may have. Package prices can be obtained by emailing pat@patsgym.com. The services contained in the packages need to be used by December 31, 2018, and payment must be received prior to starting the services. It’s a great way to give to yourself for the holidays, and to jump start your routine as 2019 begins.

Meet our athlete of the month – Gretchen

We’re excited to have Gretchen be part of the Pat’s Gym community. It started more than 7 years ago that Gretchen experienced Pat’s Gym and was hooked. She loves the environment, the passion of the athletes, and the discipline that Pat Gilles brings to training of the athletes. Now as an experienced coach, she brings that passion to training other athletes. The response to her passion and knowledge is something to be experienced. Gretchen is an experienced, all-around athlete, who never gives less than her absolute best. From an early age, Gretchen loved participating in all sports, including track and field, basketball, softball, and tennis. An early shoulder injury and knee injury introduced her to strength training and conditioning which sparked a life-long interest.

After a 19-year Engineering career, Gretchen began to pursue her true passion in fitness, and strength and conditioning, with the goal of making a positive impact in the fitness journey of others. Due to Gretchen’s passion, she wanted to become certified in coaching and wanted to pursue a career in personal coaching.
Over the past 7 years, Gretchen has trained with Pat Gilles in personal sessions, classes and through Online Coaching. Gretchen has experienced the results of the Pat’s Gym 4 Pillars of fitness. Come in and meet Gretchen and take a few private sessions with Gretchen and experience her unique way of training.

For more information about Gretchen, check out the Coaches page of the Pat’s Gym website.

The November Monthly Challenge – Each year, Pat’s Gym participates in the Concept2 World Competition SkiErg for the 1000m race for the best time. In the past, Pat’s Gym has had our athletes place as winners of this competition. With our focus on aerobic capacity, and mental toughness, I am confident that our athletes will place well in this competition again. By “placing,” I mean our athletes have held the Concept2 Ski Sprints World title. That’s quite an accomplishment and we’re so proud of them. I highly recommend that you give the SkiErg Competition a try. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish, when the pressure is on, and you put your mind to it.

October Monthly Challenge – October’s Monthly Challenge was a fun one, and everyone could do it! It was one of those challenges that you could do throughout the month and see your improvement. Our athletes were surprised with their progress.

The October Challenge was:

Jump Rope:

  • Coaches: Max double-unders in a row (two times around)
  • Athletes: Max single jump rope revolutions in a row (one time around)
  • The athletes with the most revolutions (counting was one time around for athletes and two times around for coaches) wins!

The winners of the Pat’s Gym September Monthly Challenge were Ross with 592 number of rotations, and Monica with 468 number of rotations. Great job!
