DSC03451The November Monthly Challenge – Each year, Pat’s Gym participates in the Concept2 World Competition SkiErg on the 1000m race for the best time. In the past, Pat’s Gym has had our athletes place as winners of this competition. This year, with our focus on aerobic capacity, and mental toughness, I am confident that our athletes will place well in this competition again. By “placing,” I mean our athletes have held the Concept2 Ski Sprints World title. That’s quite an accomplishment and we’re so proud of them.

I highly recommend that you give the SkiErg Competition a try. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish, when the pressure is on, and what you can do when you put your mind to it.

I wish to congratulate our winners of the October Monthly Challenge. It was a tough challenge, but our athletes performed very well. Although, it only took 20 minutes those 20 minutes seemed like an eternity. The Challenge involved lifting the new rogue sandbags and heavy breathing. It started out with a bike for calories, then the sandbag complex, followed by a Ski for max cals.

Specifically, the October Monthly Challenge consisted of the following:

100/75 (male/female) calories on the Bike
Then the Sandbag complex
Using the following sand bags
Males used the 100# sandbag
Females used the 40-70#
6 GTS – had to touch the ground and hit the shoulder
8 Squat – held it where you wanted it
10 Lunges – total reps and holding the bag on a shoulder
4x
Then – 100/75 (male/female) calorie ski
You started off with a timer for 20min counting down
Bike to 100/75cal,
Doing the 4 rounds of MB complex,
What time remained was spent accumulating calories on the SkiErg – Your score was anything over 100/75calories on the SkiErg

The winners of the October Monthly Challenge were: Dan with 55 calories for men, and Emily with 91 calories for women. I was so excited with the performance of all the athletes who participated! Way to go!
